Program begins on Monday, April 2 at Parker Road Station and North Carrollton/Frankford Station.

DART values its riders outside the service area.

That's why DART has expanded parking lots and added service--to meet the increased demand that riders outside the service area have placed on the system.

Unfortunately, the added service and parking spaces have a real cost to DART, and the agency must now pass on some of these costs.

The paid parking program is the most equitable way to offset the added costs.

It's about fairness.

Fares only represent 15% of DART's total operating budget, most of which comes from the 1-cent sales tax that citizens in the service area pay to DART each time they make a purchase.

The cities in the service area made a commitment when they voted to be a part of DART, and with the paid parking program, DART is ensuring that it honors its commitment to them.

We've got a spot for you!

  • Riders who live within the DART Service Area can apply for a parking permit sticker and park for free in an unreserved space.
  • DART still has plenty of space available for non-resident riders in our lots, only now there is a nominal fee to park.
  • For riders who want a preferred space, DART will now offer a reserved parking area, offering the most convenient access to rail platforms and bus bays.

How the paid parking program benefits you:

  • Residents get rewarded for their city's commitment to DART.
  • New reserved parking areas ensure residents and non-residents alike always have a space--and in the most convenient spots.
  • Even with the added parking costs, DART is still a more affordable commute than driving.
  • Parking ambassadors from Platinum Parking will be on hand during station hours of operation to assist riders with directions and customer service needs.

How the paid parking program works:

For residents:

You must pre-register with Platinum Parking to receive your parking permit and avoid any parking fees.

People with a primary residence in the following cities are eligible to apply: Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving, Plano, Richardson, Rowlett and University Park.

The registration requirement also applies to mobility impaired residents who want to use specially designated parking spaces without paying.

Beginning in March, Platinum Parking will be on site at Parker Road Station and North Carrollton/Frankford Station to process applications and answer questions.

To receive your parking permit, you will be asked to provide proof of residency and vehicle ownership.

Applicants must have at least one form of residency verification, as well as at least one form of vehicle ownership documentation--and these forms must be current, valid and show that your primary residence is within the DART Service Area.

Residency verification:

  • Driver's license
  • U.S. Passport
  • Proof of homeowner's insurance
  • Mortgage or rent statement
  • Property tax statement
  • Current utility bill
  • Certified school record or transcript

Vehicle ownership verification:

  • Vehicle registration
  • Proof of vehicle insurance
  • Vehicle inspection receipt
  • Vehicle title
  • Vehicle bill of sale
Once your residency has been verified, Platinum Parking will write the vehicle's license plate number on the parking permit and issue the sticker.

Affix and display the sticker on the lower, driver's side corner of your vehicle's windshield, just above your registration and inspection stickers.

Residents may request a sticker for each of the vehicles that they own; however, the vehicle must be present at the time of verification.

Any vehicle without a resident permit sticker must pay to park at Parker Road Station or North Carrollton/Frankford Station until residency has been verified.

Reserved Monthly Parking for residents:

Residents can get a reserved space--in the spots most convenient to DART services--for $30 per month.

Reserved parking is only available on a monthly basis, and you must have a resident parking permit sticker to receive the resident rate.

Reserved Monthly Parking can be purchased from a pay station, and payment receipts should be displayed in a special receipt holder that hangs from your rearview mirror.

See a Platinum Parking ambassador to get a holder.

For non-residents or residents without a parking permit:

You must pay to park.

This rule also applies to non-residents who are mobility impaired who wish to use specially designated parking spaces.

Parking Fees
Daily Parking $2 (valid for 12 hours only)
Long-Term Daily Parking $5 (per 24-hour period)
Monthly Parking $40 (unreserved parking only)
Reserved Monthly Parking $60 (non-residents only)
$30 (with resident parking permit sticker)
Special Event Parking $4 (valid for 12 hours only)
