Sept. 10-Oct. 9 Betrayal reveals the progress of a love triangle in reverse chronology as Emma and her former lover, her husband's close friend Jerry, reflect on their seven-year affair. As the little lies and casual evasions are exposed, the audience discovers, by unsettling degrees, that not one of the trio involved in that relationship knows the whole story. Henry IV Sept. 10-Oct. 10 Henry IV, presented by the Dallas Theater Center, is filled with raucous comedy, large-scale battlefield action, and a moving story of a prodigy who must learn to become a man and take over the "family business" - England. Ailing King Henry is desperately fighting rebel armies, while his heir, Prince Hal, is partying with the London lowlifes, including Shakespeare's most beloved comic character, the drunken, obese knight, Sir John Falstaff. Dallas Children's Theater Sept. 17-Oct. 24 Miss Nelson is Missing! and the ruthless, homework-assigning substitute teacher Ms. Viola Swamp steps in to whip the unruly children of Room 207 in shape. Now the students must scramble to clean up their act and find their beloved Miss Nelson before things get any worse. This classroom comedy takes the stage at the Dallas Children's Theater's Rosewood Center, 5938 Skillman St. Information: 214-740-0051 or dct.org.

WaterTower Theatre Sept. 27-Oct. 24 Our Town, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play and one of the most beloved masterpieces of the American theatre, is presented by WaterTower Theater. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the play examines the ordinary lives of the people of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. A boy and a girl meet as teenagers and succumb to adolescent affections before maturing, marrying, and having a child of their own. Addison Theatre Centre is located at 15650 Addison Road.

Shrek the Musical Sept. 28-Oct. 17 Shrek the Musical tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales. Dallas Summer Musicals brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to life at the Music Hall at Fair Park during this year's State Fair of Texas. Noises Off
Sept. 30-Oct. 23 Noises Off shows the hilarious pitfalls, downfalls, and comic terrors of a theatre company trying to perform a comedy play, spilling all the personal and backstage dirt of everyone involved. Theatre Three Sept. 30-Oct. 31 33 Variations tells the story of Katherine Brandt, a musicologist dying of ALS, who passionately throws herself into studying Beethoven's renowned variations on the mundane Diabelli waltz. The story of her singular pursuit of knowledge and her strained relationship with her spirited daughter is interwoven with that of Beethoven himself. The fluid action moves between 1819, 1823 and 2010 from present-day New York to 19th century Austria. The story unfolds at Theatre Three, 2800 Routh Street. Cinderella Oct. 1-3, Oct. 22-24 Cinderella will delight as the Texas Ballet Theater brings this classic tale to life with both humor and drama. From the comic antics of the ugly stepsisters to the elegant ball where Cinderella meets Prince Charming and loses her glass slipper, this timeless tale of elegance, romance and transformation is a lavish story audiences can rejoice in over and over again.

Oct. 6-17 Two Gentleman of Verona tells of Valentine and Proteus who leave Verona for Milan to take positions in the Duke's court. Both fall for the Duke's daughter Silvia, Proteus' lover Julia arrives from Verona disguised as a page, and a life-long friendship is challenged. Deception and drama ensue throughout this comedy. The Shakespeare Festival of Dallas brings this classic work to Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle. Oct 22-Nov 7 Don Giovanni, Mozart's masterpiece, will sweep you off your feet with its unparalleled combination of comedy, drama, glorious music and a climactic, supernatural finale! This work is based on the Spanish legend of Don Juan, the world's most successful womanizer. Mozart's classic anti-hero and his equally conniving servant keep the men on their toes and the ladies on their guard! Nov. 12 "The Man That Got Away - Ira Without George" features critic Rex Reed acting as director, host and scriptwriter as he presents an informative and charming look into Ira Gershwin's life and work after the death of his brother, George Gershwin. Featuring Broadway stars Lucie Arnaz, Tom Wopat, Sallie Mayes; stage and cabaret performer Linda Purl; jazz singer Kurt Reichenbach and special guest star Polly Bergen, who can still belt with the best! Nov. 12-Dec. 11 Charm depicts how Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau get knocked off their respective pedestals by free spirit Margaret Fuller. Magical, surreal, and transcendentally goofy, the play examines societal expectations and the ridiculous rules of love.
