Dallas Blooms Through Apr. 11 Dallas Blooms at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, is the largest floral festival in the South with more than 500,000 spring bulbs, 3,000 azaleas and thousands of other annuals and perennials throughout the 66-acre gardens. This year a 12-foot tall Ferdinand the Bull topiary will bring the classic children's tale to life. There are also children's activities, horticultural demonstrations and family entertainment. Shamrock image Mar. 13 The 31st Annual Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade is the place to celebrate the "luck o' the Irish." The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Greenville and Park Lane with outrageous floats, colorful costumes and plenty of surprises. The parade ends at Yale Blvd. but the party continues until 5 p.m.

DFW Family Expo Mar. 13 DFW Family Expo is a family-life celebration in the Centennial Building at Fair Park with sections on Pregnancy & Infancy, Parties & Entertainment, Classes & Camps, Home & Family Resources, Green Living and a Marketplace. Dallas Heritage Village Mar. 16-20 Spring Fling is historic fun for the entire family at Dallas Heritage Village, 1515 S. Harwood St. Come enjoy an 1888-style "spring break" with old-fashioned games like croquet, hoops, marbles and graces, piñatas, and more. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Dallas International Film Festival Apr. 8-18 The Dallas International Film Festival spans 11 days and nights with feature films and shorts including contemporary international features, documentaries and short films. The festival is punctuated with red-carpet galas, receptions and family-friendly outdoor screenings. Victory Park is the main hub for galas, events and screenings, but you can also catch screenings at the Magnolia Theatre, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center and the AMC NorthPark 15. Live Green Expo Apr. 17 Live Green EXPO features exhibitors and workshops on transportation, energy, green building and remodeling, yards and gardens, household products, food and agriculture, waste reduction, water and recreation. There's also music, art, food, demonstrations and activities for youth and children. It's all free from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Plano Centre, 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. EarthFest Apr. 22 EarthFest is an Earth Day street fair and celebration of all things "green" with local musicians, exhibits, fashion show, vendors and more from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pegasus Plaza and AT&T Plaza in downtown Dallas.

Asia Fest 10 May 1 The 7th Annual Plano Asian Heritage Festival at Haggard Park is a celebration of the community's vibrant Asian population. There's more than 70 information and food booths, arts and crafts including calligraphy and origami, live entertainment on the gazebo stage, and a cultural fashion show. Cottonwood Art Festival
May 1-2 Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson features more than 240 local, regional, and national artists, as well as local and regional bands performing the best in rock, country, jazz, blues, swing and folk. Food and beverages are available in the Courtyard, and there's also ArtStop where children of all ages can explore their creative talents. May 7-9 CityArts Festival is moving to historic Fair Park this year for the annual weekend saluting Dallas' vibrant arts scene. Set against the backdrop of the world's largest collection of art deco exhibit buildings, CityArts celebrates the arts in all its forms: painting, sculpture, music, drama, comedy, dance and cuisine. Wildflower! Festival May 14-16 Wildflower! Festival blooms at Galatyn Park Urban Center in Richardson with a colorful array of entertainment, arts and fun. There's also a family-friendly Kidz Korner, Teenz Zone, strolling entertainers, acrobats, interactive displays and exhibits, the Wildflower! DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival May 16 The DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival is a colorful celebration of Asian culture with dragon boat races, kite flying, cultural performances, a lantern festival, plus traditional Asian food, arts and crafts and educational activities. Liberty Fest May 28-29 Liberty Fest, presented by the City of Farmers Branch, will pause to pay tribute to our country and the men and women that have served her. The two-day event will be centered around the area from Gussie Field Watterworth Park to Liberty Plaza and to the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Some of the events will include the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, Fishin' Fun, a Volksmarch, Rose Tours, an Outdoor Expo, American Traditions Historical Carnival and Midway, a Backyard Grill-Off, a Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, 7 on 7 Football Tournament and free concerts with REO Speedwagon and the Gin Blossoms. May 29 Touch-A-Truck is Rowlett's Memorial Day weekend salute to the men and women who give their lives to preserve freedom and to protect us every day. This fun, educational event gives kids of all ages a unique opportunity to touch and explore fire engines, police cars, ambulances and more.
