Downtown Dallas Transit Study (D2) AA/DEIS
AA/DEIS Public Hearing Notice

DART has completed its Downtown Dallas Transit Study (D2), an Alternatives Analysis and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (AA/DEIS). There are several opportunities for the public to review and comment on the study results. DART, on behalf of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), is publishing the AA/DEIS document and making it available to the public on Friday, April 2, 2010. An AA/DEIS is an in-depth evaluation of an area's natural and human environment, project alternatives, and the potential for the proposed project to adversely affect the environment. It also considers the social and economic impact of a project and alternatives.

The AA/DEIS can be viewed on the internet (see links below), or a hard copy can be found at any of the main/central libraries of DART member cities (Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving, Plano, Richardson, Rowlett, University Park).

Comments can be submitted in writing at any time during the 45-day period (at address shown below) and/or orally at public hearings (hearing details listed below), both of which are requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The purpose of the efforts is to ensure the public has an opportunity to raise issues that have not yet been addressed. The comment period begins on Friday, April 2, 2010 and the deadline for receipt of comments is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010.

It would be most helpful to hear comments relating to:
  • A particular alternative or impact assessment in the DEIS.
  • What you do like about an alternative, as well as what you do not like about an alternative.
  • How the project or an alternative would affect you, your family, and your community.
  • Any incomplete or erroneous information in the DEIS.
Formal comments will be addressed and incorporated into the Final EIS, which will likely be completed approximately one year later.

Notice for the hearing and visually impaired:
If you wish to attend the Public Hearing and need sign language interpretation, please notify DART at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) number: 214-749-3628. A Braille version of materials will also be made available upon request.
