Draft Environmental Document Ready for Review
THIS ISSUE IN A NUTSHELL
DART launched D2, the Downtown Dallas Transit Study, in May 2007. The study has focused on needed transit improvements in downtown Dallas, including a second light rail transit (LRT) alignment.Four LRT alignments are short-listed and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) completed on these alignments. The alternatives analysis and environmental document can be viewed online at www.dart.org/about/expansion/downtowndallas.asp or at 11 public libraries. Locations can be found here.
Map 1 shows the four short-listed LRT alignments.

The public can share input and voice comments on the alternatives and AA/DEIS at meetings and events, including official public hearings on May 6.
The public review and comment period extends from April 2 to May 17, 2010. Comments may be provided at scheduled events and by letter.
D2 SCHEDULE UPDATE
The DART Board is currently discussing possible schedule changes to the agency's rail expansion program due to lower revenue forecasts. D2 is one of the projects being discussed over the next several months to determine how the project schedule may be affected. While DART is moving forward with public meetings and hearings to obtain input on the remaining alternatives, more information on the project schedule will be known in summer when the Board adopts next year's budget and long range financial plan.
