It's up to each of us to take responsibility for the air we breathe.
On Wednesday, July 7, North Texans joined together in committing to each do at least one thing that will enable us to breathe cleaner air.

Sustain Momentum From 7.7 - Continue Choosing Clean Air

Hopefully 7.7 is just the start. Increasing the number and frequency of clean air choices each of us incorporates in day-to-day activities will ensure continued air quality improvement.

To sustain momentum:

  • Clean Air Mail Remember clean air choices and incorporate them in your routine as often as possible.
  • Travel smarter with the help of transportation resources.
  • Know the current air quality index and health effects of high concentrations of ozone in the air.
  • Sign up for Clean Air Mail, a monthly e-newsletter with air quality news and tips.

Giants of the SavannaGiants of the Savanna Roars into the Dallas Zoo! A herd of elephants crosses the savanna toward a glistening swimming hole, seeking relief from the hot summer heat. Nearby, a tall giraffe nibbles on the leaves of a tree under the watchful eye of a lion lounging in the distance.

It's not a dream African safari. It's the Dallas Zoo's new Giants of the Savanna - and DART Rail will take you there.

The new $30-million, 11-acre Savanna ranks as the largest animal habitat of any North American zoo, and it makes the 106-acre Dallas Zoo the biggest in Texas. Nearly 90 creatures - lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs and ostriches - call the Savanna home, and most roam the open plain with only a few natural predators contained in separate habitats. The picturesque landscape also features water holes and mud pits, surrounded by native African grasses trees, shrubs and rocks. Information: dallaszoo.com.
